The only closeted queer Buddhist at her Catholic School,
Anisa Khamvongsa is a Southeast Asian American who grew up around her family’s Thai restaurant in LA. She is a physical comedian and clown at heart, with a strong foundation in improv and sketch, having trained and performed at UCB and in LA’s indie comedy scene.
Anisa is compelled by stories about embracing awkwardness, defying expectations, and enduring dysfunctional relationships. She plays an 8th grader having to use her first tampon on the day of the Presidential Fitness Test in “CARDBOARD.” Like Anisa, her characters are icebergs: warmth and comedy are just the tip, concealing mountains of wisdom and hidden worlds forming below.
